Firm successfully obtains summary judgment and a federal jury verdict on behalf of the Community Service Society of New York

Monday, July 1, 2013

Ernest J. Collazo and John P. Keil recently successfully represented the Community Service Society of New York (CSS) in federal litigation in the Southern District of New York. The plaintiff had alleged discrimination and a hostile work environment based on race and gender, and retaliation, all in violation of federal, state, and city law. CSS moved for summary judgment and the Court granted the motion dismissing all claims of discrimination and hostile work environment, but directing plaintiff’s retaliation claim to be tried before a jury. At trial, Ernest J. Collazo and John P. Keil, defended CSS and persuaded an eight-member jury to deliver a unanimous verdict in favor of CSS, finding that CSS did not retaliate against plaintiff in violation of federal, state, or city law when it terminated plaintiff from employment.
